On the Tembo app, open banking allows us to connect to your bank account, make payments and withdraw. So in the event of you requesting a withdrawal from your Lifetime ISA or Cash ISA, the withdrawn funds will be sent to the connected account by default.

To set up open banking, you must connect your Tembo account to a current account at one of our supported banks.

What about if my bank doesn't appear?

If you want to set up a Lifetime ISA or Cash ISA with Tembo and your bank doesn’t appear on the list of providers when signing up, this is because it isn't supported.

Normally, the reason for this is that there are technical issues on the bank's side which prevent us from setting up open banking. This includes banks such as the Co-Op, but smaller, more niche providers can also have this issue. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do in these situations, as the issue lies with the bank and not the Tembo app.

To get around this, you can either transfer funds from another Lifetime ISA or Cash ISA, or connect your Tembo account with an account from our list of accepted banks. Even if you transfer an ISA to us, if you want to any more funds to the account beyond what you transfer, you will still need to connect your Tembo account with an account from our list of accepted banks.
