📲 How to transfer a Cash ISA as a new Tembo customer
If you haven't set up an account yet, follow these steps to get your transfer moving during sign-up:
Select your account: Choose Cash ISA - Easy Access or Fixed Rate Cash ISA.
Verify your details: We'll ask for your name, date of birth, and National Insurance number to confirm your identity.
Fund your account: When asked how you'd like to add money, select "Transfer an existing ISA to us".
Enter details: Select your current provider from the list and enter your account number and balance.
Sit back and relax: We will email you a copy of your transfer-in form and contact your old provider to move the funds.
🔁 How to transfer a Cash ISA as an existing Tembo customer
Open the Tembo app.
Go to Settings > Transfer in an existing ISA.
Alternatively, go to More > Transfer in an existing ISA.
Choose your current provider and enter:
ISA account number
Current balance
Any other required info
We’ll send you a copy of the transfer form by email.
Your provider may contact you to confirm the transfer.
We’ll notify you once the transfer is complete.
How long does it take to transfer my Cash ISA?
Cash ISA transfers: Typically complete within 14 working days.
Stocks & Shares ISA transfers: Can take up to 30 calendar days as investments need to be sold first.
Note: Delays can happen if personal details (like your name or address) don't match exactly between providers. Please ensure your Tembo profile is up to date.
When do I start earning interest?
Easy Access Cash ISA: You start earning interest from the date we receive the funds from your old provider. We backdate this once the transfer is fully complete.
Fixed Rate Cash ISA: You start earning interest once your funds have been allocated to your account (usually within 2 working days of the funds landing).
How do I find my Tembo account number?
Your Tembo Cash ISA or Lifetime ISA account reference number can be found in 'My Profile' under the Settings Tab.
Cash ISA reference looks like acc-xxxxxx-xxxx
Lifetime ISA reference looks like NUXXXXXXXXXX.
Note: your Tembo savings accounts don't come with a typical account number and sort code; this is because Tembo is not a bank, we are a savings provider.
If you want to make a deposit into your Tembo account, you must do so by linking your bank account through the Tembo app, instead of making a payment directly from your bank account.
If you're having trouble adding money to your Tembo account through the Tembo app, try sending a smaller amount initially. If this works, then try sending a larger amount. Usually, banks will automatically decline large payments to new payees as they view this as 'unusual' behaviour. Sending smaller payments first can help get around this.
