Why are my payments being declined?

Sometimes a bank will decline a payment if it believes the transaction looks suspicious or out of character. This often happens with large transaction sizes to help protect your money as their customer.

If you're trying to deposit large amounts (£5,000 or more), try to break this down into smaller payments of between £1,000-2,000. If those payments go through successfully, you can then try to make a payment for a larger amount.

If you are still having problems, you'll need to get in contact with the bank you're trying to make payments from to allow payments to us. Once you've spoken to them, get in touch with our team via our live chat with any new information or updates you get from your bank.

🚨 Please note, your Tembo savings accounts don't come with a typical account number and sort code, this is because Tembo is not a bank, we are a savings provider.

If you want to make a deposit into your Tembo account you must do so by linking your bank account through the Tembo app, instead of making a payment direct from your bank account.
