Why does the app say I am ineligible to refer friends?

To start referring friends and earning rewards, you need to have an active Tembo savings account with a balance of at least £500. If your app says you are ineligible, it usually means your account is still being set up or your balance hasn't quite reached that threshold yet.

Checking your account status

To qualify for our referral programme, you must have an open Tembo Cash ISA or a Tembo Lifetime ISA. If you’ve only just opened your account, it can take a few working days for our systems to update your status to ‘eligible’.

The balance requirement

The most common reason for being ineligible is the balance rule. Both you and the person you refer need to have at least £500 in your respective accounts. Once your balance hits £500, the referral section in your app should unlock automatically.

We can help

If you have more than £500 in your account and have held it there for more than 48 hours but still see an ‘ineligible’ message, please let us know. Our team can manually refresh your status to get you up and running.

Check your account balance in the Home tab. If you’re ready to top up, you can do so via easy bank transfer to reach the £500 milestone.
